Quote of the Week (Nov. 25 - Dec. 1 )

Quote of the Week!!

“This world is a funny world indeed,
And people are hard to suit.
The man who plays the piccolo,
Is a bore to the man with the flute.
And often to myself I've thought how lovely it would be,
If every person I ever met would simply agree with me.

But since they won't,
I think the way to make the whole world bright
Is never to mind what others say,
And do what I think is right.”

Quote of the Week (Nov. 18 - Nov. 24)

Quote of the Week!!

"This is a work of fiction.
Still, given an infinite number of possible worlds, it must be true on one of them.
and if a story set in an infinite number of possible worlds is true in one of them,
then it must be true in all of them.
So maybe, it's not as fictional as we think."

-Neil Gaiman, Interworld

Look Up

I had a thought today that has been plaguing my mind for a long time while looking up at the sky. How often do you think humans look up? i mean, we're always so preoccupied with the world around us at eye level, when do we think to look below or above us. really think about it for second. How often do you look up? I'm not talking about the sky but just up in general.

I say this because i had a conversation with a girl at my school named Olivia once and i brought up this question. She said, being a member of the tech club she sometimes had to go to the top floor and hook things up and when she did she'd stare though the window on occasion. She told me she couldn't think of one time when she saw someone else looking back up at her. She went on unnoticed. to think she could be anyone or anything just above your head and you wouldn't have the faintest idea she's there. So wrapped up in your own little world you missed something. Sherlock Holmes once said "you see, but you do not observe" and he was right. When i look at a mass of people walking down the streets they're always looking forward staring into the future while talking on cell phones about plans to come or texting about past mistakes but when i look up at the sky, i'm in the present. i'm in the now. i live for today and only today.

i think if we all just took a few moments a day to look up the world would be a better place full of people who live for the present instead of planning for the distant future or the unchangeable past. Maybe its my innocence speaking, but i believe that becaue our bodies are in the present so should our minds be. But i guess i'm just a dreamer searching through a sky that holds no nwers. Even so, i find comfort in today and i'll always look up.

Quote of the Week!!

“Two possibilities exist:
either we are alone in the Universe or we are not.
Both are equally terrifying.”
